Well peeps, the $200 Bankroll Experiment is busto due to a lot of experimentation and a lot of different styles.
This experiment was suppose to make me robusto but it was actually a good lesson for me. I played a lot of different games here and tried out a lot of different styles to see what kind of styles would benefit my poker playing. Most of my mistakes were trying something new to experiment. So here is some of them.
Playing combo draws wrong. I am talking gutshots + flush draws + over-card. These sort of draws where we are flipping if we get it in all on the flop. I was playing these very aggressively, shoving over raises and getting it all in on the flop. I wouldn’t normally do this, but I am really relying on a lot or at least some fold equity here for it to be +EV. but there really is no fold equity in micro No Limit Hold-em. Probably close to no fold equity at these limits at all. So I am turning my game into gambling and playing very high variance. This was Mistake #1.
Playing Top Pair too strongly. This is probably a very common mistake here in micros. Playing Top Pair too aggressively like it’s the nuts. Top Pair is good in micro limits but if you find resistance at all, you are probably beat. I was calling off way to much with these types of hands and bleeding money. Mistake #2.
Bluffing. You can’t make a bluff at these limits. Especially a bluff which actually makes sense. These micro players are playing one-street poker and they won’t make means of your bluff at all. You can only bluff scare cards, like when an Ace comes on the turn or a King high flop. I was bluffing to much and bleeding again. Only bluffing you should be doing here is C-bet bluffing and scare cards. Just one street bluffing. Mistake#3.
Calling 3-bets too light out of position. Huge mistake here! I am calling 3-bets with Suited Connectors + Pocket Pairs and such, which is way wrong trying to bust someone. No odds at all to call these 3-bets (especially out of position… YUCK!). Mistake#4
These were my biggest mistakes I was making. I did a review of my play after 2 weeks and found these common mistakes which was just breaking me even a lot. Making me frustrated because I know I can beat these monkeys.
So after my review I implemented a new strategy. I was 8-tabling here also. First night after review I played 16 hours straight 13k hands at .1c-.2c NL to try it out. My strategy worked really good. Was up 17 buy-ins at this level after a huge session.
Here is what I did…
(Hey guys… wait for my next post tomorrow!
