2,500 Hands After The First Coaching Session

I feel a bit guilty :-) I started loosening up again, except this time much smarter.

Basically what I’m doing now is only playing position. I find it extremely easy to fold all medium/good hands from the blinds to a raise, unless I have good reads and/or other reasons not to fold. I also play nitty from early positions, so that my VPIP=PFR=7% UTG. However my PFR on the button is up all the way to 30%. Considering the fact that it’s not that often to find yourself in the spot where everyone folded to you on the button at NL2, this means that I open at least 50% of the hands when it happens. I still don’t like playing against limpers (not even talking about raisers), so I guess I’ll need to learn isolating villains at some point in the future. It clearly isn’t a priority right now, though.

And I steal a lot of pots post-flop. Very aggressively and very loosely, with stuff like overcards, even gutshots, etc. I think my reads are much better now, partially because I so often find myself in position against other players.

Anyway, when I say I play more loose, at the same time I’m very careful with marginal hands when my opponent shows any interest in his hand. So I don’t lose much with one pair type of hands anymore. I guess what that means is that I try to steal loosely, but tighten up extremely at the very moment I get the feeling that the hand will go unfolded.

And even though I know 2,500 hands isn’t a lot, I feel so great about the fact that my winrate has grown almost 6-fold from what it was before the first session. This leaves me wondering what is next to happen? :-)
